Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening regional security and democratic stability through deeper military cooperation across Africa. Speaking at the Third African Land Forces Forum in Port Harcourt and during bilateral talks with Guinea-Bissau’s military chief, Shaibu called for greater collaboration to combat terrorism, insurgency and transnational crime. He highlighted Nigeria’s experience in counter-terrorism and peace support operations, while participating nations pledged stronger knowledge-sharing, joint initiatives and defence partnerships. The forum also showcased indigenous military innovations aimed at enhancing Africa’s collective security.

David Okon David: Regional cooperation is essential, but success will ultimately be measured by safer communities, fewer terrorist attacks, and stronger border security.
