It reflects a justice system that failed to deliver justice, policing that failed to protect the innocent, and leadership that failed to ensure accountability. In a functioning society, such a grave miscarriage of justice would trigger thorough investigations and consequences for those responsible. Yet too often, these stories end without anyone being held accountable, while the victims and their families bear the lifelong pain.

Justice delayed is tragic; justice denied is even worse.
