FIRST AID
A person has been punched in the eye, and the area around the eye is swelling rapidly. Their vision seems normal. What is the correct first aid?
A. Apply a cold pack (wrapped in cloth, never directly on the skin) to the eye area to reduce swelling, do not apply pressure directly to the eyeball, and seek medical assessment even if vision seems normal. Internal eye damage may not be immediately apparent.
B. Apply pressure directly to the closed eyelid to reduce swelling the same way you would for any bruise.
C. Give the person a warm compress, and warmth promotes healing more effectively than cold for facial injuries.
D Wash the eye out with water immediately, internal injuries risk requires flushing.
Your time starts now!
