I just watched a video of an Arab man saying Nigeria discovered oil before many Gulf countries, yet today they are far ahead of us.
Whether every historical detail is perfect or not, the message hit hard.
Nigeria was blessed with oil, fertile land, brilliant people, and every resource a nation could ask for. Yet decades of corruption, greed, bad policies, and leaders who put themselves before the country have left millions struggling just to survive.
Some countries found oil and built world-class infrastructure, sovereign wealth funds, strong institutions, and opportunities for future generations. We found oil and somehow mastered the art of wasting potential.
The painful truth is that Nigeria's biggest problem has never been a lack of resources. It's been leadership.
Imagine what this country could have been if those entrusted with power had loved Nigeria as much as they loved power.
Nigeria didn't fail because God forgot us.
We were failed by people who never stopped putting themselves first and we still cheer for them till date. That's the painful part.
We deserved better. We still do.
