A conditional NHS offer triggers pre-employment checks: Enhanced DBS check, overseas police clearance for any country lived in 12+ months in the last 10 years, Occupational Health clearance, professional registration verification, and references covering at least the last three years.

Overseas police clearances often take the longest — initiate this immediately on receiving a conditional offer, as timelines vary significantly by country.
