Lagos flooding is mainly driven by heavy rainfall, poor drainage systems, blocked waterways, rapid urban development, and the city’s low lying coastal terrain.

During periods of intense rain, several areas become waterlogged, major roads are submerged, and transportation is severely disrupted.

In extreme cases, residents are even forced to rely on wooden canoes and other makeshift means to move through flooded streets.
