YOUR HEAD IS NOT CORRECT.

'Your head is not correct' is a common statement in Nigeria (and perhaps other countries),
Especially used to insult someone who behaves abnormally or does something wrong.
As a sickle cell warrior surviving depression with a mix of anxiety,
Truthfully, I will say there are moments when the statement applies to me.
These are periods when I cannot make sound judgments of situations or things,
There are occasions when my emotions are abnormally over the top,
There are moments when I cannot make logical and rational decisions.

Within these moments, I do the following:
1. Identify with the reality of that moment and refuse to deceive myself.
2. Withdraw, suspend, or stop my interaction with people, places, and things that expose me to such moments.
3. I ensure I do not make logical and rational decisions.
4. Postpone whatever needs my discernment and sound judgement.
5. Get something or someone that can help me calm my mind.
6. Assure myself that this moment is transient and cannot define me, nor will it last forever.

Well, with surviving depression,
I am still learning,
But by the grace of God,
I will definitely survive and overcome depression,
And help others survive and overcome depression,
In the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ.
