33% unemployment. 45% youth unemployment. And the answer is blame the immigrant?

I know this playbook. I've seen it before in my own country, in my own continent. When leaders can't fix the economy, they fix the narrative. Make the outsider the enemy. Make the poor fight the poor while the powerful walk free.

My people are among those crossing borders not to steal, but to survive. Fleeing collapse, violence, hunger the same forces that could push any South African to do the same. We don't leave home for fun. We leave because home stopped being home.

Yes, South Africa's services are strained. Yes, people are angry. But burning a Nigerian's shop won't create one job. Attacking a Zimbabwean won't build one house. It's theatre. Cruel, dangerous theatre and the audience is you.

The real question isn't "who took your job?" It's "who promised you one and never delivered?" For 30 years.

I love South Africa. I grew up admiring your struggle, your courage, your Mandela. It pains me to watch that legacy traded for cheap political points and street violence against people who look just like you.

🇿🇦 🇳🇬 Pan-African solidarity wasn't a slogan. It was a promise our parents made each other. Let's not be the generation that breaks it.
