CHOICE OF LEADERSHIP

Numbers 1:3-5 KJV
[3] From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: thou and Aaron shall number them by their armies. [4] And with you there shall be a man of every tribe; every one head of the house of his fathers. [5] And these are the names of the men that shall stand with you: of the tribe of Reuben; Elizur the son of Shedeur.

Understanding is a vital key of life for anyone who wants to get the best out of it. When you play with understanding, you are invariably playing with success and the reality of life. This is because understanding exposes you to the truth and reality of things. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee of possessing this virtue without the mercy and help of God. This is because, since God is the One that created the world and everything in it, you can never know or understand it until you are educated by God who created it.
God instructed Moses to number the children of Israel according to their tribes with a leader for each of the tribes. Strikingly, God did not leave the issue of the appointment of that leader to Moses but appointed them by Himself. The major reason God did not allow Moses will be that of lacking understanding of the individuals and their capacity. In order to avoid not only errors but having a team that will underperform, God took off that responsibility from Moses. You should understand henceforth that the best leader can only be discovered by God. Your outward view of people does not always represent their inner values and beliefs. This is why Samuel almost made the mistake of appointing the elder brother of David as the king because of his physical qualities. But God made him understand that David might be the smallest, but the most courageous of them all. (1 Samuel 16:7)
1 Samuel 17:32 KJV
And David said to Saul, Let no man's heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.
Leadership should not be something that you fight for if you are not the choice of God. Leadership should not be something you fight for when the criteria of leadership as designed and desired by God is not in you. In fact, being in the position of leadership should be a recognition of the potential to lead genuinely and wisely by God. Stop forcing yourself into leadership if your mind is that of a baby. The Bible says the land will suffer when a baby is the leader which talks about maturity and not necessarily your age.
Ecclesiastes 10:16 KJV
Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning!
This is why the quality of your last service should be the yardstick for your next lifting. Joshua was chosen ahead of Caleb because he worked under Moses and served him as a leader even though both of them had the same influence and connection to the Spirit of God. Let your promotion be God ordained and not status desired.
