Your Excellency President Tinubu and Lagos State Government, 240 million Nigerians are writing to express a deep and longstanding concern shared by many Nigerians. For decades, Nigerians have struggled with a healthcare system that does not meet the needs of the Nigerians. It is deeply troubling that, in 2026, we are still having conversations about basic access to healthcare and clarity in public health reporting.

The recent clarification from the Lagos State Government regarding HIV data underscores a larger issue: public trust. While the press release accurately explains that the widely circulated HIV figures were misinterpreted and actually referred to 2018 diagnosed cases rather than new infections in 2025, this situation highlights how fragile public confidence has become.

Nigerians deserve a healthcare system that is transparent, accessible, and reliable. We demand the establishment of free, functional hospitals across all 36 states and all 774 Local Government Areas. Healthcare should not be a privilege reserved for a few, but a fundamental right guaranteed to every Nigerian

Our nation cannot continue on a path where preventable illnesses, misinformation, and inadequate infrastructure undermine public wellbeing. We demand your administration to take decisive action to strengthen healthcare delivery, restore public trust, and ensure that every Nigerian has access to quality medical care without financial barriers.

Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.
