So, let me understand this.

A fake government agency allegedly operated, people were recruited, budgets were discussed, money changed hands, and lives were affected. Now that the scheme has been exposed and suspects have reportedly been arrested, we’re expected to believe no one within government knew anything?

If an outfit could present itself as a government agency and operate long enough to deceive Nigerians, then there are serious questions that must be answered. Whether through negligence, poor oversight, or possible collusion, the public deserves a full and transparent investigation.

Government cannot simply distance itself by saying, “It wasn’t us,” if systems that should have detected and stopped such a scheme failed to do so. Accountability is not only about who directly committed the fraud. it is also about who was responsible for preventing it.

Nigerians deserve more than press statements. They deserve answers. Who created this illusion? Who benefited? How did it go on for so long? And what safeguards will ensure this never happens again?

Public trust is built on transparency and accountability, not denial.
