Your Excellencies Esteemed World Bank Stakeholder and Board members 240 million Nigerians are writing to express a strong and urgent concern regarding continued lending to the current Nigerian administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

240 million Nigerians believe that additional loans will not address the country’s core challenges. Instead, they fear that further borrowing will deepen Nigeria’s debt burden without delivering meaningful improvements in jobs, security, or living conditions for the 240 million citizens who need real economic relief.

There is widespread public frustration that despite record levels of borrowing, Nigeria continues to face severe unemployment, poverty, and insecurity. boko haram and other root causes of instability remain unaddressed, while essential services such as electricity, healthcare, and education continue to deteriorate.

240 million Nigerians argue that government officials—including the President, Vice President, Senate leadership, governors, and ministers—should suspend their monthly salaries and allowances and redirect those funds toward job creation, infrastructure, and national development. Nigerian fear that new loans will be mismanaged and diverted into luxury spending rather than used for public benefit of 240 million Nigerians

For these reasons, we respectfully urge the World Bank to reconsider issuing any new loans to the current administration. Many Nigerians believe that withholding further borrowing may encourage stronger fiscal discipline, transparency, and accountability.

We ask that the World Bank prioritize safeguards, oversight mechanisms, and strict conditions to ensure that any future financial support directly benefits 240 million Nigerians and addresses the structural issues driving poverty and insecurity.

Thank you for your attention to these concerns.
