Your Excellency Mr. President Tinubu, opposition parties, independent candidates, courts, efcc 240 million Nigerians are writing to express deep concern regarding recent public comments made by Pastor Enoch Adeboye during an event in Washington, D.C., where he made statements that, in our view, misrepresent the security realities of both the United States and Nigeria.

Pastor Adeboye stated that, "When my friend Trump gives instructions to go and bomb anywhere, he doesn’t leave the White House," and used this comparison to defend President Bola Tinubu’s handling of insecurity in Nigeria. This comparison is troubling. The United States does not experience the level of insecurity Nigeria faces, nor does it tolerate the killing or kidnapping of children. In the U.S., children attend school safely every day. In Nigeria, more than 20 million children are out of school, many due to insecurity, violence, and kidnappings.

Respectfully it is deeply inappropriate to compare U.S. security standards with Nigeria’s ongoing crisis. The U.S. government—past and present—does not negotiate with terrorist organizations. In Nigeria, both past and current administrations have engaged in negotiations with violent extremist groups responsible for mass abductions, killings, and destabilization. This is not a matter of opinion but a matter of documented fact.

Pastor Adeboye’s remarks also attempt to frame President Tinubu as having "done his bit" simply by issuing instructions. Leadership in times of national crisis requires accountability, transparency, and measurable results—not comparisons to foreign leaders or dismissive rhetoric. Nigeria continues to face widespread insecurity, and many Nigerians believe stronger action and responsibility are urgently needed. No lies no slogans

Given the nature of Pastor Adeboye’s comments, his platform, and the potential for misinformation or political manipulation, we respectfully request that the United States government exercise caution regarding his engagements and influence within the country. His statements risk mischaracterizing U.S. policy, misinforming audiences, and downplaying the severity of Nigeria’s security challenges.
