There Must Be Constitutional Insulation to Protect State Police from Governors' Interference - Agbakoba

If Nigeria adopts the same constitutional architecture that protects State Chief Judges from interference, state policing will work. So long as governors cannot hire, sack, remove, fund, or otherwise turn the State Police Command into an appendage of the governor’s office, it will be acceptable. While this is a welcome move, I would like to see a full repertoire of reforms that will make Nigeria stronger. Nigeria must use this state police initiative as a catalyst for devolving powers from the Federal Government to the States.
