The Immigration Salary List allows specific occupations to be sponsored at a lower salary or skill threshold than the general Skilled Worker route requires. Current ISL entries are scheduled to expire 31 December 2026 unless extended.

WHO THIS GENUINELY AFFECTS: SOC code 6131 — healthcare support workers and nursing auxiliaries/assistants, typically Band 2-3. After December 2026, new sponsored applications under this code will not be possible. Care workers and senior care workers (SOC 6135/6136) have a separate, later transition date of 22 July 2028.

WHO THIS DOES NOT DIRECTLY AFFECT: Registered nurses, doctors, and HCPC-registered AHPs on national pay scales are assessed against the Health and Care Worker Visa's own threshold (£25,000 or going rate) which is separate from the ISL mechanism described above. I stated this incorrectly in an earlier post this week and have corrected it publicly.

If you are a Band 2/3 healthcare support worker planning sponsorship, this deadline is real and your application timeline matters. If you are a registered nurse, doctor, or AHP, the December 2026 date is not the threat to your sponsorship eligibility that it is for support worker roles.
