Private Sector for AHPs
The NHS is not the only option for physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and AHPs in the UK. The private sector includes independent hospitals, MSK clinics, sports medicine, occupational health, and residential care providers. Larger operators include Nuffield Health, Spire Healthcare, Circle Health Group, and Bupa.
Onboarding is often faster with smaller HR processes. Pay structures vary — some match Agenda for Change rates, some exceed them. Compare the full package, not just the headline figure.
The sponsorship check matters more here than in the NHS. Coverage of A-rated sponsor licences is far less consistent in the private sector. Always check the employer against the UKVI Sponsor Register before applying — this is a free, public register on gov.uk. HCPC registration is required for all regulated AHP roles regardless of employer.
DM me PRIVATE if you want help identifying private sector employers in your specialism with a confirmed A-rated licence.
