The study, "A Diamond Is Forever and Other Fairy Tales: The Relationship Between Wedding Expenses and Marriage Duration," by Andrew Francis-Tan and Hugo M. Mialon, surveyed more than 3,000 ever-married people in the United States.
The outcome?
1. Men who went for very expensive engagement rings had shorter marriages than those who went for cheaper ones.
2. Couples who spent lavishly on their weddings also tended to hit the divorce button more than those who had simple ones.
So for the young ones planning for weddings in this harsh economy just wave this report at your fiancée or family and friends who expect you to spend all your life savings on a one day event 😂

However, will it be right to assume that couples who ended up divorced got married for the wrong reasons eg money, beauty etc?
