On today’s Child Series, let’s talk about how many African homes prepare the girl child mainly for marriage instead of preparing her for life, purpose, and career.
Girls are often taught to cook, clean, endure, and “prepare for their husband’s house,” while their dreams, education, leadership, and ambitions are ignored.
There is nothing wrong with teaching responsibility, but a girl child should not grow up believing that marriage is her only achievement in life.
Teach the girl child to dream big, pursue education, build a career, become financially independent, and make impact in society.
Marriage should be part of her life not the limit of her potential.
