Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has praised the Nigerian military for its role in combating insurgency, banditry and other security threats, while warning of emerging risks confronting the state. Speaking during a visit by the Chief of Army Staff and at the Passing Out Parade of Army recruits, Adeleke raised concerns over the proliferation of illegal arms, the reported influx of suspected bandits disguised as miners, and the spillover of kidnapping from neighbouring states into Osun border communities. He also urged the Army to establish security checkpoints along key entry and exit routes to strengthen surveillance. The Chief of Army Staff reaffirmed the military’s commitment to tackling insecurity and deepening collaboration with the state.
