The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern states and the FCT, alongside the Ecumenical Synods of Bishops, Archbishops, Apostles and Senior Clergy, has dismissed US President Donald Trump’s claim that American military action has ended the killing of Christians in Nigeria. The groups insist that attacks, abductions, and killings continue across several states, arguing that only Nigerians—especially victims of insecurity—can assess the true security situation. While acknowledging past US operations against terrorist groups, the Christian leaders said the violence persists and called for practical international support, stronger action by the Nigerian government, and sustained efforts to protect lives and tackle the root causes of insecurity.
