State Police Bill Heads to 36 State Assemblies for Approval.

The National Assembly will transmit the State Police Constitution Alteration Bill to the 36 state Houses of Assembly this week for consideration. The proposal requires approval from at least 24 state legislatures before being sent to President Tinubu for assent.

The bill seeks to establish state police while retaining fed policing powers & includes safeguards against abuse, with broad support from govs & other political stakeholders.
