UKVI Sponsor Register.

There is a public register of every employer in the UK licensed to sponsor workers.

Most international healthcare professionals have never heard of it.

It is the most important resource in your NHS job search and it is free.

The UKVI Sponsor Register is published on gov.uk. You can download it as a spreadsheet and search it by organisation name.

When you open it, here is exactly what to look for.

Rating. You want employers with an A rating. An A-rated sponsor can issue new Certificates of Sponsorship to incoming employees. A B-rated sponsor is under Home Office scrutiny and cannot issue new CoS to new employees. Applying to a B-rated employer wastes your time and money. Always check the rating before submitting an application.

Route. Confirm the employer lists the Skilled Worker route. Some organisations only hold licences for Temporary Worker categories, which are entirely different.

For NHS roles specifically, the vast majority of NHS Foundation Trusts and NHS Trusts in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland hold A-rated licences. For most NHS posts, the question is not whether the Trust can sponsor. It is whether the specific post you are applying for is offered with sponsorship for that particular vacancy. Check the job advert. If it is not clear, email the recruiting manager before you invest application time.

For private sector healthcare employers, the register check is far more important. Coverage is much less consistent in the independent sector.

Before I build any application for a client, I verify the employer's A-rating from the register. Not assumed. Verified. It is part of every Tier 3 package I deliver.

If you want me to check a specific employer before you apply, DM me SPONSOR with the organisation name and I will check it for you.

Post 4 is at 2pm. I am walking through exactly how international doctors get GMC registration, step by step.
