What value addition have we had to the inmates, the wardens or the citizens since the change of nomenclature from the "Nigerian Prisons Service" to the "Nigerian Correctional Service"?
Stories filtering from inside still point to very poor welfare of both the inmates and the officers, with poor working environment.
Perhaps the immediate beneficiaries of the change were the businessmen who got generous contracts to produce new stationery and also repaint their vehicles and gates to reflect the new name.

Also, the few elites and politicians who have had cause to be there prefer the new nomenclature. Being called a former “Nigerian Correctional Inmate” sounds a lot better than being labeled a former “Prisoner"... 🤣
