The move to introduce state police is a response to Nigeria's current security realities. Unfortunately, the issue has been unnecessarily politicised, with too much attention focused on what governors might do. We often forget that providing security is a shared responsibility of the President, governors, and state legislatures. The priority should be protecting lives, not playing politics.
