Your Sponsor's Rating Can Change After You've Already Applied. Here's What That Actually Means.

Most candidates check a Trust's sponsor status once, at the start of their search, and never think about it again. That's a mistake, and here's the part almost nobody explains properly.

A sponsor's rating on the official register isn't permanent. A Trust holding an A-rating can be downgraded to a B-rating if the Home Office identifies compliance issues — incomplete record keeping, failures in right-to-work monitoring, reporting duties not properly met. This isn't common, but it isn't rare enough to ignore either.

Here's why it matters at every single stage of your application, not just the start. A B-rated sponsor cannot assign new Certificates of Sponsorship until they're restored to A-rating status. If a Trust's status changes between you submitting an application and reaching an offer, your sponsorship can stall through absolutely no fault of your own, with very little public explanation given.

What this means practically: check the register not just before you apply, but again before you accept any offer, and ideally again as you approach your actual start date if there's been any significant delay in the process.

It takes two minutes. It has saved people from situations that would otherwise have felt like a total mystery — an offer that suddenly goes quiet, with no clear reason given, when the real explanation was a rating change nobody told them about directly.

This is exactly the kind of detail that experienced advisers build into their process.

DM me "RATING" and I'll send you the direct link to check this yourself.
