US hospital treats sickle cell patient with curative gene therapy

A 23-year-old man from Louisiana, United States, has become the first patient in the state to receive curative gene therapy for sickle cell disease.

Daniel Cressy, a native of Metairie, Louisiana, marked the milestone on June 22 at Manning Family Children’s Hospital after completing a treatment journey that lasted more than two years.
