Your Excellency President Tinubu, opposition parties' independent candidates 240 million Nigerians are writing to express deep concern about the proposed structure for funding state police across the 36 states and 774 local government areas. Respectfully we worry is that if these funds are placed directly under the control of state governors, there is a significant risk of mismanagement, diversion, and misuse—similar to what has been observed in the administration of local government funds over the years.

To ensure accountability and protect the integrity of the state police system, we respectfully demand you to consider implementing a funding mechanism that releases money gradually and ties each disbursement to verified compliance and transparency uploaded on the global internet daily so that 240 million Nigerans and the global can see these daily

Specifically, we demand the following safeguards:

Mandatory public disclosure on widely accessible online platforms showing that state police officers are properly paid and supported.

Provision of essential benefits such as housing, education, and healthcare for state police personnel across all 36 states and 774 LGAs.

Strict rules ensuring that all funds allocated for state police are used exclusively for that purpose.

Strong oversight by relevant agencies, including the courts and the EFCC, to investigate and prosecute any governor or official found diverting public funds.

Daily public reporting of equipment purchases—such as vehicles, communication tools, and operational assets—to ensure transparency and prevent misuse.

These measures are essential to building a credible, effective, and corruption‑free state police system capable of protecting all 240 million Nigerians. The safety of our communities, and the urgent need to rescue Nigerian children kidnapped since 1999, depends on a trustworthy and well‑funded security structure.

Senator Abaribe’s recent warning in the National Assembly highlights the importance of preventing political interference in state police funding we support you on these sirs as long as you are looking out for the benefit of 240 million Nigerians not for selfish interest respectfully. We hope his concerns will be taken seriously as reforms move forward.

Thank you for your attention to this critical matter.
