We Can Mitigate, Not Eradicate, Flooding Challenges in Lagos – Wahab

In the past three years, we have seen remarkable improvements. But I would be playing to the gallery if I said there will not be issues of flash flooding in Lagos. However, we can mitigate the incidence of flash flooding in Lagos. Regarding the case of Ologolo flooding: that area is to the right of the Atlantic, and storm water does not discharge into the Atlantic. Before the construction of the coastal road, there was no flooding in Ologolo. The coastal road has now separated its outbound downstream from its outlet into the Lagoon. In Ajiran government is addressing the challenges but because of an ongoing construction the solution cannot come overnight
