ImeIme Umana, a Nigerian-American lawyer, wrote her name in history books, and gained recognition in the legal world.

In 2017, she became the first Black woman ever elected President of the Harvard Law Review, marking a major milestone for diversity — 27 years after Barack Obama became the first Black man to hold the role**.

Born in Pennsylvania to Nigerian parents, Umana is a triple graduate of Harvard University, earning a BA, JD, and MPP. Instead of choosing corporate law, she followed her passion for justice, dedicating her career to public defense.

She has clerked for Robert L. Wilkins and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, before committing her work to defending underserved communities.
