A döner kebab is a popular Turkish street food made of seasoned meat stacked on a vertical rotisserie. As the spit rotates, the outer layers are slowly cooked and shaved off into thin, tender strips. It is typically served wrapped in flatbread or pita with vegetables and sauces. Traditionally made with lamb, beef, or a mix of both. Chicken (tavuk) is also incredibly popular.

The word "döner" comes from the Turkish word dönmek (meaning "to turn") and "kebab" refers to roasted meat.
