Your Excellencies President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Government of Jigawa State, 240 million Nigerians write to you respectfully and with deep concern for the future of 240 million Nigerians. Recent reports indicate that bids have been opened for the construction of a new Emir’s Palace in Dutse. While we fully acknowledge the cultural importance of traditional institutions, we believe this moment calls for a different national priority.

Nigeria is home to over 240 million Nigerians, many of whom are young, educated, skilled, and unemployed. Millions more lack adequate housing. In this context, allocating public funds to construct new palaces risks diverting resources from the urgent needs of 240 million Nigerians.

We respectfully demand the Federal Government and the Jigawa State Government to reconsider this project and instead channel these funds into a national housing and employment initiative. By hiring 240 million of Nigerian youths and graduates to build affordable/free homes across all 36 states and 774 local government areas, we can:

Create large-scale employment opportunities in the 36 states 774 LGA

Reduce homelessness and overcrowding

Stimulate local economies

Strengthen national unity and dignity

Such a program would not only address unemployment but also provide lasting infrastructure that benefits every Nigerian family. Traditional rulers are respected leaders, but they do not require new palaces at a time when 240 million Nigerians lack basic shelter.

We offer this perspective with the utmost respect and with a sincere desire to see Nigeria grow stronger, fairer, and more prosperous for all 240 million Nigerians
