Director Akinola Davies Jr. and actor Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù have been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Akinola Davies Jr.'s short film "Lizard" won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance 2021, and his debut feature "My Father’s Shadow", starring Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, made history as the first Nigerian film selected for Cannes before sweeping the AMVCAs earlier this year.
Membership in The Academy is one of the highest honours in the global film industry. Members are responsible for voting on the Academy Awards and helping shape conversations around cinematic excellence worldwide.
Congratulations to them! ❤️.
