In December 1999, Venezuela faced one of the worst natural disasters in its history.
Days of nonstop rain hit the coastal state of Vargas. The mountains could no longer hold the water. Massive mudslides and floods swept through towns, destroying homes, roads, and entire neighborhoods in just a few hours. Thousands of families lost everything, and many people were never found.
But among all the stories from the disaster, one has never been forgotten. Rescuers found a father trapped deep in the mud. They tried to pull him out and save him.
