FEATHERED POWER: THE 5 MOST DANGEROUS RUNNING BIRDS

Living dinosaurs are still among us. These five flightless birds dominate the ground with explosive speed, crushing kicks, and razor-sharp talons.

1. Southern Cassowary

Size: Up to 2 m (6.5 ft) | 80 kg (175 lbs)

The Weapon: A dagger-like 12 cm (5 in) inner claw.

The Threat: The world's most dangerous bird. A single jumping slash can disembowel a target or break bones instantly.

2. Common Ostrich

Size: Up to 2.7 m (9 ft) | 150 kg (330 lbs)

The Weapon: Heavy, muscled legs ending in a 10 cm (4 in) talon.

The Threat: The largest bird alive. It sprints at 70 km/h (43 mph) and packs a forward kick strong enough to ki** an adult lion.

3. Emu

Size: 1.9 m (6.2 ft) | 60 kg (130 lbs)

The Weapon: Three robust toes with 8 cm (3 in) claws.

The Threat: An elite endurance runner that clocks 50 km/h (31 mph). Its powerful, stamping kicks can easily break human limbs.

4. Greater Rhea

Size: Up to 1.7 m (5.5 ft) | 40 kg (90 lbs)

The Weapon: Rapid-fire agility and sharp 6 cm (2.5 in) claws.

The Threat: South America's largest bird uses its wings like sails to make sharp turns at a de/\d sprint, executing blindingly fast defensive kicks.

5. Southern Brown Kiwi

Size: 45 cm (18 in) | 4 kg (9 lbs)

The Weapon: Surprisingly thick, muscled legs and razor-sharp claws.

The Threat: Small but highly territorial. It aggressively defends its burrow, using its sharp claws to viciously slash the skin of intruders.

-The Ostrich has the heaviest impact, but the Southern Cassowary rules through sheer lethality and its switchblade-like talons.
