Bhaskara II (1114–1185 CE), also known as Bhaskaracharya, was one of the greatest mathematicians and astronomers of medieval India.

In his celebrated work Siddhānta Shiromani, he made remarkable contributions to algebra, arithmetic, geometry, trigonometry, and astronomy.

Bhaskara developed sophisticated methods for solving indeterminate equations, worked with concepts resembling differential calculus centuries before Newton and Leibniz, and provided highly accurate astronomical calculations.

His mathematical writings combined rigorous reasoning with practical applications, and his influence extended throughout South Asia for centuries, making him one of the most important figures in the global history of mathematics.
