OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL 24 JUNE 2026 COMMENTARY
MEMORISE: Psalm 92:13
“Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.”

This verse reveals a critical spiritual principle: flourishing is connected to planting. Daddy Adeboye anchors today’s devotional on this text because it corrects the casual attitude many believers have toward church membership. The word “planted” implies intentionality, permanence, and rooting. A planted tree does not move from place to place searching for better soil. It sinks its roots deep and draws nourishment from where it is placed. The promise of flourishing is not for those who merely visit the house of the Lord occasionally, but for those who are planted there—established, committed, and deeply rooted.

BIBLE READING: Acts 13:1-3
“Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.”

This passage records a pivotal moment in church history: the commissioning of Paul and Barnabas for missionary work. Daddy Adeboye highlights a crucial detail: this commission did not happen in Jerusalem (the “mother church”) or in Samaria (where revival had occurred). It happened in Antioch—the local assembly where Paul and Barnabas were planted, serving, fasting, and ministering to the Lord. God Cares Where You Fellowship
1. The Meticulous God (Luke 12:7)
“In Luke 12:7 Jesus said that the strands of hair on your head are numbered. If God is so meticulous about the number of hair strands on your head, then your decision of where to fellowship with other believers greatly matters to Him.”

Many Christians choose a church based on convenience (close to home), aesthetics (beautiful building), entertainment (good music), or social reasons (friends attend there). But Daddy Adeboye insists: seek God’s face. Ask Him where He wants you planted. Your church home is not a casual decision—it is a spiritual assignment.

2. You Are the Planting of the Lord (Isaiah 61:3)
“Isaiah 61:3 says: ‘To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.’”

The Antioch Example: Planted for Commissioning
1. The Church at Antioch
“Today’s Bible reading makes us understand that Paul and Barnabas attended the church at Antioch. It was while they were there that the Holy Spirit commissioned them into ministry.”

Consider the significance:

Other Churches at That Time Why Antioch?
Jerusalem (the first church, apostolic center) God chose Antioch instead
Samaria (where Philip preached and revival broke out) God chose Antioch instead
Other scattered congregations Antioch was the place of commissioning
“There was a church in Jerusalem and another at Samaria at that time, but God spoke to them in the church at Antioch. They were planted in their local assembly, and that was why God sent His word to them there.”

This is a crucial point. Paul (then called Saul) had been converted on the road to Damascus. He had spent time in Jerusalem. He had met with the apostles. But his divine commissioning for missionary work did not come in Jerusalem—it came in Antioch,.....
