I have noticed how private primary and secondary schools are struggling to get parents(Ladies) who bring their children and wards to school to dress up - be covered. Understandably, schools should help in parenting pupils but certainly not mothers. This is a very bad trend where near nakedness is being displayed by parents who should actually be grooming their children and wards on the value of decency and decorum.
The same situation is also being observed in churches particularly the old generation churches who have even resorted to printing banners directing ladies on what to wear or not to church. Adults are told to cover up before bringing their children and wards to school and church!
20yrs ago, I know this wasn't the case. Women dressed up to come to church; with basic knowledge that the church is a place of worship.
We recognised that God rained there and we did everything to attract God's blessings including acting decently and not being a distraction to other worshippers.
Women should consciously model themselves in such a way that they can positively influence others for good.
The presentation of nudity and nakedness as a fad is bad. Positive role models are urgently in need. Women should caution themselves; it's enough.
Copying the western lifestyle is only good if it's something superior to our culture; not nakedness.
While we give up aspects of our culture that can no longer stand the test of modernity, we must make a conscious effort to maintain the ones that are good by standing, retaining and propagating for the rest of the world to also learn from us.
I can only attribute this lack of shame to the effect of television programmes like the Big Brother etc. Africa wasn't like this: decency was held high and above display of nakedness. We had festivals where feminism was celebrated; but clearly for a purpose but not a limitless open display without boundaries.
How do you explain the fact that a mother can take her child to school barely covered leaving almost nothing to the imagination. No wonder the higher rate of infidelity and moral backwardness even amongst married women.
While this piece isn't to disparage our female folks, this "sickness" is mostly among them. One may say the men should mind their business as often said but mothers are the first teachers of children: that's why their role is inexcusable as it's basic to what society becomes acting as role models to both boys and girls who end up as leaders of tomorrow.
A man also, should man up because these ladies come from a home. There are too many weak men who cannot stand their responsibility for providing leadership. A man should be a man! If you value your woman and family, please get them to cover up. The way your woman appears either validates or invalidates your person. It tells everyone how cheap you are when your family cannot be a positive reference to society.
Let love and positivity reign. At the end , that's what benefits society.
Enough is Enough please.
