Your LinkedIn Profile Is Being Checked By NHS Recruiters Before Your TRAC Application Is Even Opened.
Not after shortlisting. Before.
I want to be specific about this, because I think most people assume their LinkedIn is a nice-to-have that sits separately from their formal NHS application. It isn't.
A name comes in. A quick search happens. Whatever's sitting on your profile shapes the context through which your application gets read — before a single word of your supporting statement has been properly reviewed. It is how many NHS recruiters genuinely work.
The problem isn't that people don't have LinkedIn profiles. Most do. The problem is that the profile they have was built quickly, once, as an afterthought, while their actual TRAC application was carefully crafted. That mismatch creates an impression problem that no supporting statement, however well-written, fully corrects.
Here is what NHS recruiters typically look for in that first scan:
Does this person's professional presentation match the role they're claiming to be ready for?
Does the headline reflect their actual registration and target level, or does it say whatever job title they happened to have when they first set up the account?
Does the About section tell a coherent, credible professional story, or is it either empty or a paragraph copied from their CV summary?
Those three things take most candidates an hour to fix. Most haven't fixed them.
Comment "LINKEDIN" and I'll send you the three most impactful changes to make this week, in order of priority.
Post 2 at 9am: I'm breaking down the four reasons your HCPC registration isn't protecting your application the way you think it is — and what actually does.
