If you're on a Band 3 or Band 4 NHS role with sponsorship, December 2026 matters to you, and the details are still genuinely unclear — so let me be precise about exactly what is and isn't confirmed.

Confirmed: new sponsorship under the nursing assistant occupation code closes when the Immigration Salary List is withdrawn this December. After that point, new applications under this route stop.

Not yet confirmed: what happens for people already sponsored in these roles when it comes time to extend.

The Home Office has said this will be addressed in due course — it has not been addressed yet, despite plenty of people online stating otherwise with total confidence.

Here's the only honest comparison available: when care worker codes closed to new sponsorship in July 2025, the protection that ended up mattering was whether someone already held leave in that occupation code before the cutoff — not the specific timing of any last-minute application.

That's a reasonable pattern to expect again. It is not a guarantee.

If you're in this position, the worst thing you can do is panic into an action based on a rumour. The second worst thing is doing nothing and hoping it resolves itself.

Comment "VISA" and I'll send you what's actually confirmed so far, with sources — not speculation.
