Can my post-registration clinical experience from outside the UK be recognised in determining my starting pay step under Agenda for Change?

That single sentence is worth thousands of pounds over a career, and almost nobody asks it.

Here's what Outstanding looks like when a candidate raises this properly:

❌ What most people say: "I have nine years of ICU experience" — stated as background, not leverage.

✅ What gets results: naming the specific AfC provision, asking explicitly whether prior comparable experience can be evidenced and assessed against the starting point, and bringing documentation — references, job descriptions, scope of practice — ready to support it, before the offer is finalised, not after you've already accepted.

The difference between those two is the difference between starting at the bottom of Band 5 and starting two or three steps up. Once you've accepted, it is far harder to revisit. Before you accept is your only real window.

This is exactly the kind of detail that gets missed when nobody walks you through the offer stage — which is most of the value in proper interview and offer-negotiation prep.

Comment "OFFER" if you want the exact question wording to use, word for word.
