Physiotherapists keep failing NHS interviews. It has almost nothing to do with their clinical skill.

I've sat through the prep with dozens of HCPC-registered physios who can talk you through a rotator cuff rehab plan in their sleep — and then freeze the second a panel asks "tell us about a time you managed conflicting priorities."

Here's the framework panels are actually scoring against, every single time:

Safe and effective practice — can you evidence it, not just describe it
Professional accountability — do you know the line between your scope and escalation

Communication across the MDT — specific example, not a general claim

Reflection and learning — what changed because of a mistake, not just "I learned from it"

Notice what's missing? Pure clinical technique. That's assumed. It's the structure of your answer they're scoring, not the depth of your anatomy knowledge.

Most candidates walk in ready to talk about treatment plans and walk out having never actually answered the question that was asked.
