The older we get, the more we realize that life is not merely a courtroom where everything is judged as right or wrong. It is also a workshop where decisions are weighed by what is necessary and what is unnecessary.
Youth often seeks certainty in absolutes. Age, however, teaches nuance. We begin to understand that some battles can be won yet are not worth fighting, some truths can be spoken yet are not necessary to say, and some desires can be pursued yet are not necessary to fulfill.
Wisdom is not the abandonment of right and wrong; it is the maturity to recognize that life demands more than moral correctness. It requires discernment—the ability to distinguish between what serves purpose and what merely satisfies impulse, between what builds and what merely proves a point.
For in the end, peace is often found not in always being right, but in knowing what is necessary.

Ageing comes with a maturity of true discernment of knowing that just because you can say or do something, doesn't mean you should.
That restraint is the gap between reaction and response, bearing in mind that in our response lies our growth and our freedom.
