A young trader, flushed with early success, mocked the old woman selling roasted corn by the roadside. Years later, bankrupt and broken, he returned to that same road. She offered him corn and a seat without a word of triumph. In that moment he learned that genuine dignity needs no audience, and mercy is the language of those who have truly lived.
