Request for International Support for Transparent, Secure, and Credible Elections in Nigeria

Your Excellencies, Esteemed Representatives of the United States, United Kingdom, and Member States of the International Community,240 million Nigerians are writing to express deep concern about the transparency and credibility of future elections in Nigeria. As you know, Nigeria currently relies on manual, hand counting of ballots at polling units. While this method is legally recognized, 240 million Nigerians fear that it creates opportunities for manipulation, delays, and a lack of public visibility into the process.

From our perspective, Nigerians deserve an electoral system where results can be viewed in real time by all 240 million Nigerians—across all 36 states and 774 Local Government Areas. We believe that modern technology such as drones, CCTV monitoring, and secure digital transmission of results could significantly strengthen public trust. These tools would allow 240 million Nigerians, as well as the global community, to observe the process transparently on their mobile devices and online.

We also urge continued international pressure on all political actors—including the ruling party, opposition parties, and independent candidates—to commit to reforms that address the root causes of insecurity, including the long‑standing tragedy of kidnappings and insurgency since 1999. These issues have affected Nigerian families for decades, and meaningful action is urgently needed.

Our humble request is simple:

Demand Nigerian institutions to adopt transparent, technology‑supported election monitoring.

Support civil society and state governments in implementing reforms that reduce insecurity and strengthen democratic participation.

Promote peaceful, lawful engagement among all political actors.

We believe Nigeria can achieve a more secure, transparent, and credible democratic process, but international partnership and observation remain essential.
