*PRESS STATEMENT / COMMUNIQUÉ*
*HAPPY SUNDAY, NDI NIGERIA DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS*

From the Office of the National Chairman, Abuja, to all State, LGA, and Ward Executive Committees, with particular reference to Ngwo Ward, Enugu State:

We wish to place on record the position of the loyal members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress committed to the ideals of democracy, internal democracy, and the rule of law:

1. *Loyalty & Principle*
Our allegiance remains with Mr. Peter Obi and the constitutional principles upon which this party was founded. That allegiance is non-negotiable, non-transferable, and not subject to compromise.

2. *Rejection of Imposition*
Any attempt to impose a candidate in Enugu State, contrary to the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022, the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, and the NDC Party Constitution, is unlawful and void ab initio. Such action constitutes a breach of internal democratic process and will be challenged accordingly.

3. *Due Process & Party Structure*
We affirm our membership within the NDC. We shall exercise all rights available to members under the party constitution to organize, engage party organs, and utilize lawful mechanisms to prevent the institutionalization of illegal structures and processes. All party meetings must reflect the will of the majority, as provided by law.

4. *Historical Context*
The African Democratic Congress remains a political platform previously occupied by members of this movement. Should the NDC persist in undemocratic practices, we reserve the right to explore all lawful political options, including realignment, without prejudice to the stability of the state.

5. *Judicial Remedy*
We note that several matters concerning the conduct and legitimacy of party processes are currently before courts of competent jurisdiction. We shall continue to participate as petitioners, witnesses, and stakeholders to ensure due process is followed and the rule of law prevails.

6. *Demand & Ultimatum*
We call on the National Leadership of NDC to immediately reverse any attempt at imposition and to return the mandate to its rightful holder, consistent with the outcome of the party primary held at Okpuno Town Hall, Udi, on 29th May 2026, wherein Onye Ngwo emerged the duly elected candidate for Udi South House of Assembly.

Failure to do so will compel us, as law-abiding members and constituents, to withhold electoral support for the party in the affected constituency, as is our democratic right.

We reiterate: we seek no confrontation, only compliance with law, equity, and justice.

No apology for defending the rule of law. No retreat from constitutional order. No surrender of the people’s mandate.
