FIFA have refused to award iconic Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa the special "Legacy" patch reserved for players with five or more World Cups.
FIFA's criteria only counts tournaments in which a player featured on the pitch, meaning Ochoa's call-ups in 2006 and 2010 would not qualify as official participations. Right now the only players wearing the "Legacy" patch are:

Ochoa has been selected for SIX World Cups, something only Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have achieved too, and has been one of Mexico's most important players for nearly two decades. However, this is still not enough in the eyes of FIFA's rules.
If he plays at the 2026 World Cup, the Mexican Football Federation will push FIFA to reconsider their decision. However, so far he hasn't featured in Mexico's games as goalkeeper.
Do you think FIFA's rule makes sense in this case?. Most goalkeepers stay benched during the tournament but they're still part of the selected squad.
Seems excessively nitpicky to not recognize Ochoa's historic achievement of Six World Cups with this honor π
