There once walked a weary pilgrim through the crowded streets of the world, his heart heavy with the betrayals of men. At twilight he met an old lantern-bearer who, though blind, still lit the path for strangers. “Good sir,” asked the pilgrim, “why dost thou give light when thou canst not see it thyself?” The old man smiled softly and replied, “Because darkness is not mine to keep, but light is mine to share.”
