The Price of Poverty
David loved his wife, Grace, with all his heart. When they got married, they dreamed of building a beautiful life together. But life became difficult. David lost his job, and months turned into years of financial struggle.
Every day, he woke up early, searching for work. He tried small businesses, odd jobs, and anything he could find, but nothing seemed to succeed. Bills piled up, and their small apartment became filled with tension.
One evening, Grace looked at David with tears in her eyes.
“I can’t live like this anymore,” she said. “Love alone cannot pay the bills.”
A few months later, she filed for divorce and left.
David was heartbroken. The woman he had promised to spend his life with was gone. For many nights, he cried and questioned his worth. But instead of giving up, he kept working hard.
Years later, his fortunes changed. A small business he started began to grow. With patience and determination, David became successful.
One day, while attending a business event, he saw Grace again. She looked surprised to see him. David greeted her politely and smiled.
As they spoke, Grace admitted, “I never thought you would come this far.”
David nodded and replied, “Neither did I. But I learned that hard times don’t last forever. The people who stay with you through them are the real treasures.”
Grace lowered her head in regret, while David walked away—not with bitterness, but with peace in his heart.
