“Lord knows I was nervous! Please forgive me!!!” wrote Tems on her social media after her performance at the official dedication of the Obama Presidential Centre in Chicago.

The Grammy-winning singer revealed she became flustered after accidentally calling one of the Obama’s daughters by the wrong name and forgetting one of them while speaking to the audience.

“I am so blessed and honoured to be here… this one is to you, everyone, here, to Mr and Mrs Obama, to Sandra, and all the family,” Tems said before her set. The daughters of Michelle and Barack Obama are called Malia and Sasha.

Tems was part of a star-studded line-up that featured Jennifer Hudson, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen and several other music icons.

The centre also features a portrait by Njideka Akunyili Crosby, giving Nigeria a big place in the landmark project.
