NNEKA'S DIARY XXI
Two weeks before Kunle's return, I had a dream.
I was standing in a church. Not my church — a bigger one, with white walls and flowers everywhere. I was wearing a white dress. Not a wedding dress exactly, but close. And standing at the altar, waiting for me, was Kunle.
But beside him stood Angela.
She was smiling.
Not a jealous smile. Not a sad smile. A peaceful one. Like she was approving of something.
I woke up with tears on my face.
"God," I whispered into the dark, "if this is from You, give me a sign. If it's not, take it away."
The next morning, I went to Mrs. Chucks' office. I told her about the dream, and she listened without interrupting.
When I finished, she opened her Bible and read from Jeremiah 29:11:
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
"Nneka," she said, "God doesn't give us fear. He gives us peace. If this man brings you peace, don't let fear rob you of what God has ordained."
"Even with everything? The timing? The fact that he's a widower?"
She smiled. "Even with all of that. God's ways are not our ways. Sometimes He writes the most beautiful stories with the most unlikely characters."
I left her office lighter than I had arrived.
To be continued …

Will post 2 longer ones tomorrow.
True. Life often unfolds in ways that defies our expectations. For Nneka and Kunle, I see God already writing a beautiful and compelling story.
We wait as it unfolds.
